Ode on Solitude By : ALEXANDER POPE
About poet :
Alexander pope was born in 1688 was considered to be the greatest poet of his time. He was one of the greatest satirists of the early 18 th century. He was also a critic. The present poem, " Ode on Solitude" was written when Alexander pope was very young, it is a poem in praise of a simple calm and quite life.
Introduction:
When pope road his work he had the idea of Solitude that is loneliness in his mind, as do a great many poets who expressed themselves best through the return word and perhaps less so in the company of others. Solitude itself is an important thing to attend from time to time, and perhaps it makes the sense to think of one of pops oldest poem as being about a very basic human desire.
Summary:
In the first line of the poem, the speaker begins by suggesting that a man can be happy if he has a few acres. The happy man wish and care to have few land in his own ground. He also talks about a simple life close to nature.Working hard and finding satisfaction in simple things are believed by the speaker to be key ingredients for happiness. He also likes to live alone life. The man in the poem is happy because he can look after his land,which gives him everything he needs like food,clothes and warmth is animal give him milk . He also has the tree on his land which gave him shade in summer and wood for fire in the winter season. He also have some sheeps which provides wool for clothes. Alex and pop says real happiness come from being satisfied with that you have an enjoying the simple things in life. The man and the poem is happy watching Timepass peacefully, sleeping well at night, and having time for both work and play during the day.
The author also wants to remain unknown from the society he doesn't want any type of different fame from people. He also believe that health is necessary to body and peace to the mind . He also likes to meditation. He would rather die unknown and be buried somewhere no one could ever find him then celebrated and attended to . The narrator of the poem clearly agrees with the letter of the above sentiments here he wishes for and unseen life Van hi mein live ine solitude until Hills dying days which will come and go, unnoticed,unremarked,and unadorned,perfect life for solitude and peace .
